Professional Teeth Whitening in Canberra

Would you like your smile to be whiter and brighter? Teeth whitening may be the right option for you.

Teeth whitening is a safe and minimally-invasive way to enhance your smile. At Braddon Dental Surgery we use the POLA Whitening system, which offers a range of different treatments of different strengths to suit your own needs.

Types of Teeth Whitening

In-Chair Teeth Whitening

In-chair whitening is a fast and convenient way to achieve a whiter smile. Results are achieved after only one hour in the dental chair.

How it works: A protective barrier is placed over the gums to eliminate any irritation. The whitening gel is then placed on the teeth and left for about 8-10 minutes with our blue-light before being washed off. This is repeated 2-3 times. The whitening gel contains desensitising agents to provide a calming effect on your teeth, making sure you are comfortable during your appointment.

Take-Home Teeth Whitening

Home whitening is a popular treatment as it’s convenient to be able to do it in your own home. This is a less invasive and gentler option as it contains a lower concentration of the whitening agent, and therefore is perfect for anyone who may have sensitive teeth.

We make you customised trays that are fitted to your teeth for a more effective result.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

How long does teeth whitening take?

In-chair whitening can take as little as one hour in the dental chair. Our take-home options can range from 5 – 14 days to complete, depending on the formulation. Stronger formulations can take less time to achieve results, however may result in short-term sensitivity.

How long does teeth whitening last?

Generally, whitening results will be greatest within the first 6 months and then may start to diminish. The biggest influence on longevity of results is your lifestyle.  This includes being mindful of how often you have heavily staining foods and drinks, such as tea or coffee, wine and/or soft drinks. We also recommend good at home maintenance to keep your results long-lasting, including regular brushing and flossing as well as visits to the dentist for professional cleaning.

Is professional teeth whitening safe?

Absolutely! Clinical studies have shown that teeth whitening with carbamide or hydrogen peroxide is safe if performed under the guidance and supervision of a trained dentist.

A small minority of people may experience short term teeth sensitivity during the whitening process. This sensitivity will subside quickly and does not lead to tooth or gum problems.

Which whitening products do you use for in-chair whitening?
